Watch Life Is Beautiful (La Vita è bella) Movie with Full HD Format

In this WW II tragicomedy, famed Italian funnyman Roberto Benigni (The Monster) portrays Guido, who moves during the '30s from the country to a Tuscan town, where he is entranced by schoolteacher Dora (Nicoletta Braschi, Benigni's real-life wife). Dora likes Guido, but she remains faithful to her pompous fiancé, so Guido has an uphill struggle. Meanwhile, anti-Semitic attitudes lead to attacks against Guido's Jewish uncle (Giustino Durano). Leaping ahead to five years later, during WW II, Guido and Dora are married and have a son Giosue (Giorgio Cantarini). After they are imprisoned in a concentration camp, Guido goes to elaborate lengths to keep his son from understanding the truth of their situation. He tells the boy that they are competing with others to win an armored tank -- so everything from food shortages to tattoos is explained as necessary for participation in the contest. ~ Bhob Stewart, Rovi

Review For Life Is Beautiful (La Vita è bella)

Yes, there are heaps of charm and poignancy in this trifle, but it's a trifle nonetheless -- light-and-bright, for sure, but also slight-and-trite.
Rick Groen-Globe and Mail

Its sentiment is inescapable, but genuine poignancy and pathos are also present, and an overarching sincerity is visible too.
Kenneth Turan-Los Angeles Times

In the real death camps there would be no role for Guido. But Life Is Beautiful is not about Nazis and Fascists, but about the human spirit.
Roger Ebert-Chicago Sun-Times

Its strained poignancy is as thick -- and sweet -- as honey.
Joe Baltake-Sacramento Bee

Benigni's movie made me want to throw up.
David Edelstein-Slate

Roberto Benigni's finest hour arrived in 1997 when the triple-threat writer/director/actor delved deep into Charlie Chaplin territory - see "The Great Dictator" (1940).
Cole Smithey-ColeSmithey.com

Wrenching Holocaust fable with bittersweet humor.
Nell Minow-Common Sense Media

The film's title, which very well could have been a straightforward declaration prior to the war, becomes a source of twisted irony once we witness Guido pull down the grate outside his humble bookshop and the words JEWISH STORE are seen sprayed across th
Jordan Hiller-Bangitout.com

With Life Is Beautiful, the final frontier of schmaltz has been reached.
Rob Gonsalves-eFilmCritic.com

Sentimental and contrived, Benigni's well-intentioned Holocaust dramedy may only work as a children's fable. Inexplicably, it won a prize at the 1998 Cannes Festival.
Emanuel Levy-EmanuelLevy.Com

Benigni does with the Nazi setting what Chaplin didn't dare in The Great Dictator--he lets the liberating nonsense triumph.
Alan Dale-Blogcritics.org

Benigni's point, made with tender sensitivity, is that a child's innocence is worth protecting.
Judith Egerton-Courier-Journal (Louisville, KY)

This cross between Schindler's List and Hogan's Heroes works better than it has any right to, but not as well as most people would have you believe.
Carlo Cavagna-AboutFilm.com

Audiences will be laughing hysterically while crying their eyes out.
Chris Gore-Film Threat

I had thought The Other Sister was appalling in its exploitation of the mentally disabled to grab your entertainment dollar, but that was nothing, NOTHING compared to what the funny little Italian man has wrought.
Ron Wells-Film Threat

A dramatic rendition of the fortitude required to reclaim the violated spirit and the imaginary optimism needed to save a dying innocence.
Yazmin Ghonaim-Cinephiles

Inspiring, heartrending, funny, sad, surprising and richly imagined.
Margaret A. McGurk-Cincinnati Enquirer

How appealing you find it will probably depend on your response to Benigni's screen-hogging routines -- the line between endearing and irksome is a fine one.
Tom Dawson-BBC

If this is a fantasy, it is probably a compensation we need when facing the reality of history.
Colin Maccabe-Sight and Sound

Shows how humor is a rich spiritual resource that enables us to cope with the unexpected and to smile through the unbearable.
Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat-Spirituality and Practice

"Holocaust comedy" + "life-affirming drama" = molto hilarious dramadic cadffefmng. Perhaps cadffefmng should mean "magical taste of realism."
Karina Montgomery-Cinerina

...silly, to be sure, implausible, sometimes slapstick, often sophomoric; but it is never disrespectful. ...a sweet and moving experience.
John J. Puccio-Movie Metropolis
