Watch Radio Unnameable Movie with Full HD Format

Legendary radio personality Bob Fass revolutionized late night FM radio by serving as a cultural hub for music, politics and audience participation for nearly 50 years. Long before today's innovations in social media, Fass utilized the airwaves for mobilization encouraging luminaries and ordinary listeners to talk openly and take the program in surprising directions. Radio Unnameable is a visual and aural collage that pulls from Bob Fass's immense archive of audio from his program, film, photographs, and video that has been sitting dormant until now. -- (C) Official Site

Review For Radio Unnameable

You're overwhelmed by the feeling that you've seen this tale of corporate greed and arrogant mismanagement before. Still, the filmmakers tell it with gusto.
John Hartl-Seattle Times

Directors Paul Lovelace and Jessica Wolfson weave together archival visual and aural materials along with new interviews with Fass, his wife, Lynnie, and other WBAI alumni.
V.A. Musetto-New York Post

A treasure trove of both visual and aural footage makes this terrific doc a keeper. Its affectionate appreciation of one man's long, strange trip through history make it a helluva lot of fun.
Joe Neumaier-New York Daily News

It can make you wish - or, if you're lucky, remember - that you were a sleepless New Yorker in 1967, kept from loneliness by a gentle, soulful voice on the radio.
A.O. Scott-New York Times

A sporadically hard-selling homage to a cult hero from an overchronicled era ...
Melissa Anderson-Village Voice

As haunting and heroic as anything you'll see on the big screen this year.
Matt Singer-Time Out New York

Radio Unnameable is at its best when it tries to find some visual analog to Fass' vibe, courtesy of cinematographer John Pirozzi, who takes beautiful snapshots of a sleepless city.
Scott Tobias-AV Club

...a great window into the days before cell phones and Twitter, when broadcast radio played a key role not only in delivering information to people, but also in giving them a voice and bringing them together.
Sarah Boslaugh-PopMatters

Beautifully sets up the feel and the times. . .with archival photographs and footage [but] distracts from. . .the intimate aural relationship between Fass and his audience.
Nora Lee Mandel-Film-Forward.com

A richly conceived archival tribute to the very miracle of Radio Unnameable's survival despite it all. And a troubling irony as peripherally depicted in this documentary, with Fass often in furious battle to prevail on air. A Tale Of Two Radio Stations
Prairie Miller-WBAI Radio

Gimlet-eyed view of a legendary pioneer of "free form" radio as well as a probing examination of the Balkanization of the left.
Louis Proyect-rec.arts.movies.reviews

While crediting free-form radio pioneer Bob Fass with changing the culture of broadcasting, this doc remains clear-eyed about the decline of community radio and the New Left.

Watch This Ain't California Movie with Full HD Format

In 90 minutes, we see the GDR more sharply, more clearly: the skater subculture shows that not all was grey-on-grey and drab clouds of Trabant fumes. This Wildfremd production (Ronald Vietz & Michael Schöbel) by director Martin Persiel takes original clips of the "wheel-board-riders" - straight out of the East German scene in the 80s - and mixes it with animations and reencounters with the protagonists today. It is not just a well thought out story on its own - this film also raises the aesthetic bar. "Skating as freedom" is one of the leitmotifs of this film. Skating "without pressure to be better than someone else," as one of the main characters puts it, became the goal in hindsight, or, said downright harshly, "the desire for freedom turned lifestyle". Unbelievable, if not for the simple fact that this Californian fun could find its expression in the GDR. (c) Official Site

Movie Overview For This Ain't California

This Ain't California is a celebration of the lust for life, a contemporary documentary trip into the world of roller boarding in the German Democratic Republic. A coming-of-age tale of three teenagers and their passionate love for a sport on the crumbling tarmac of the streets in the German Democratic Republic, which was considered very ill-fitting. The punk fairy tale is a story of the subversive powers of fun in that part of Germany, which had lost touch with its citizens. The film follows its three heroes from their childhood in the seventies through their teenage rebellion in the eighties, ending in the last summer of their life in the German Democratic Republic in 1989, when their life changed forever, and follows them to 2011.

Review For This Ain't California

"This Ain't California" offers a vivid immersion in the hidden skateboarding culture of the former East Germany.
Jeannette Catsoulis-New York Times

A trove of home videos, vintage commercial and propaganda footage and black-and-white animation dress up this energetic if somewhat unfocused look at the birth of skateboarding in the German Democratic Republic.
Sara Stewart-New York Post

Combines vintage Super-8 footage, re-creations, cheeky asides (a lesson on how to do an ollie!) and middle-aged guys reminiscing ...
David Fear-Time Out New York

Martin Persiel's splendid "documentary" could well be subtitled "And It Ain't the Truth."
Ernest Hardy-Village Voice

Even knowing the artifice, it's an excellent and extremely enjoyable film. Indeed, knowing the artifice, it's way more impressive ... However true it isn't, it's a lovely evocation of what might have been.
CJ Johnson-ABC Radio (Australia)

Prize-winning documentary paints an affecting tale of young GDR rebels on wheels, but is marred by a busy, self-conscious aesthetic approach.
David Noh-Film Journal International

A masterpiece of editing and re-creation resulting in one of the most enthralling stories of the year.
Christopher Campbell-Film School Rejects

What the director is perhaps aiming for is a documentary of feeling rather than historical accuracy...the filmmaking is so accomplished that any potential notions of being hoodwinked can be forgiven.
Kevin Jagernauth-The Playlist

While the film is deeply romantic and nostalgic, possessing a genuine reverence for youth and rebellion, it's also something of a tragedy.

Abigail Brooks (Thomas) has spent her lifetime trying to win an Olympic rowing medal, sacrificing friendship, love, and a "normal life" along the way. When she is named an alternate on the Olympic team she quits in haste. Defeated, Abi moves back home with her widowed, workaholic mother (Margaret Colin). Tension builds as Abi's mother urges her to "move on" from the rowing life that Abi's father, a coach, introduced her to. Unable to do so, but needing an immediate job, Abi seizes an open crew coach position at her alma mater, Union High. There, the head of athletics is her old boyfriend, Geoff (James Van Der Beek). Abi trains her high school rowers in an obsessive fashion, taking two girls, Hannah (Alexandra Metz) and Susan (Meredith Apfelbaum), under her wing. After the girls lose an important regional race, Abi reinvents herself as a coach, and, in the process, learns to have fun again both on the water and off. -- (C) Official Site

Review For Backwards

Passably pleasant but thoroughly predictable.
Joe Leydon-Variety

A movie whose main virtue was its honesty ultimately lands in a place that feels canned and unsatisfying. But on the way there, Backwards isn't so bad.
Mick LaSalle-San Francisco Chronicle

The biggest problem ... is the characters who populate the film. For the most part, they're one-dimensional caricatures.
Stephanie Merry-Washington Post

The neatness of the plotting becomes almost comical after a while. Construction is one thing; contrivance is another.
Mark Feeney-Boston Globe

Although this modest indie may not make a huge splash, it just might inspire some hearty younger viewers - especially women - to grab a set of oars and find their bliss.
Gary Goldstein-Los Angeles Times

Hickernell soft-pedals the material into a blandly feel-good dramedy.
Sara Stewart-New York Post

Backwards" is obvious at times, but what makes it stand out are the details that Thomas imbues in her character.
Molly Eichel-Philadelphia Daily News

Corny and predictable, sure, but Backwards will appeal to a few junior oarswomen around Seattle.
Brian Miller-Seattle Weekly

Even James Van Der Beek, so natural as a high school athletic director that you can't help but wonder if he's actually spent time in that job, can't save this film from drowning.
Jake Mulligan-Boston Phoenix

Drama is bland but teaches girls about competitive rowing.
Sandie Angulo Chen-Common Sense Media

Likable in spurts but too safe by a long stroke, "Backwards" would be right at home as a cable movie airing on ABC Family.
Dustin Putman-DustinPutman.com

It's an uncomplicated single-character study whose main purpose is as a housing for its lead performance.
Sam Adams-AV Club

Streamlines its busy set of plots into a 90-minute sprint, throughout which characters often confront and overcome their obstacles within the same scene.

Review For Hit & Run

The worst.
Richard Roeper-Richard Roeper.com

Hit & Run as a whole is one of the summer's most enjoyable surprises, a consistently disarming romantic comedy...
Glenn Kenny-MSN Movies

Hit & Run is awfully hit & miss.
Rick Groen-Globe and Mail

Shepard and Palmer just don't do anything terribly exciting with the film's vehicles, drawn mostly from Shepard's personal collection.
Lou Lumenick-New York Post

It feels like writer, co-director and star Dax Shepard has unleashed some kind of freakish Franken-film on movie-goers.
Stephanie Merry-Washington Post

Hit and Run lures you in with its jackalope rhythms. There's nothing else like it on the current landscape.
Stephanie Zacharek-NPR

Hit & Run isn't always a smooth ride, but the quirks and misfires make it as distinctive as the actor behind many of the film's creative choices.
Mark Pfeiffer-Reel Times: Reflections on Cinema

Hit & Run may stall early and often, but the Bell/Shepard screen chemistry serves as a nitrous boost.
Christian Toto-Big Hollywood

I'll be darned if I didn't like the characters. They're fun, often unpredictable and reasonably humorous.
Paul Chambers-Movie Chambers

Hit and Run has a bouncy, goofy charm.
CJ Johnson-ABC Radio (Australia)

It's 'Smokey and the Bandit' as conceived by a Quentin Tarantino wannabe.
Jeffrey Westhoff-Northwest Herald (Crystal Lake, IL)

It's highly entertaining with cameos by several of the director's pals and pit stops for delivering sub-Tarantino dialogue.
Philip French-Observer [UK]

There is a lot of boring Clarksonian chatter about motorcars, but, inhibited by a modest budget, the stunts prove to be depressingly unspectacular.
Donald Clarke-Irish Times

Audiences out for a bit of mindless fun will probably enjoy this raucous road movie, but only if they can look past comedy that relies on jokes about racism, sexism and homophobia.
Rich Cline-Contactmusic.com

The film's characterisation is hopelessly underdeveloped and an undercurrent of homophobia does little to make the experience any less tedious.
Adam Smith-Radio Times

For a comedy the laughs are hard to find.
Alex Zane-Sun Online

It's amiable, but the more miles it clocks up, the more this film looks like a vanity vehicle for its co-director, writer and star, Dax Shepard.
Peter Bradshaw-Guardian [UK]

This whipsmart postmodern rom-com caper rides a fine line between road - and date - movie.
Anton Bitel-Little White Lies

Shepard's script suggests his chief pleasures in life are driving sports cars and joshing about homosexuals, and those of a similar mindset may manage to wring out more amusement from his film than I did.
Robbie Collin-Daily Telegraph

Hit and Run is certainly hit and miss, but it had just about won me over by the time it ended.
Roz Laws-Birmingham Post

Enjoyable, fast-paced comedy-thriller with well written characters, decent chase sequences, a frequently funny script and superb performances from Shepard, Bell and Bradley Cooper.
Matthew Turner-ViewLondon

Dumb, noisy and not half as cool as it thinks it is, it's like being caught in a shouting match between half-cut rednecks at a Nascar meet.
Elliott Noble-Sky Movies

A good-natured, if inconsequential, thrill ride. Shepard more than proves he's up to the task when it come to multitasking. It will be interesting to see what he does next time around.
Adam Lowes-HeyUGuys

More hit and miss.
Siobhan Synnot-Scotsman

There's the suggestion of a good comedy filmmaker here, but in trying out too many genres in one film Shepard winds up with something that never settles or fully engages.
Olly Richards-Empire Magazine

While Shepard deserves credit for pulling the whole thing together, Hit & Run is an uneven action-comedy which isn't particularly exciting or funny.
Stephen Carty-Flix Capacitor

Watch The Underground Comedy Movie Movie with Full HD Format

First-time filmmaker Vince Offer crashes through the outer limits of bad taste in this wildly outrageous collection of comedy sketches. Adapted from material Offer first worked out on a public-access television series, The Underground Comedy Movie includes a gender-switch parody of The Godfather, a cross-dressing version of Dirty Harry, a "Batman" who attacks criminals with a Louisville Slugger, the misadventures of a gay virgin out on the town, a take-off on Randy Newman's song (and music video) "I Love L.A.", a beauty pageant featuring bag ladies as contestants, swimmers being attacked by sharks while a lifeguard ogles beautiful women, and plenty of stuff not too rude to describe in this context. The cast includes Michael Clarke Duncan (in a bit shot before his rise to fame), Gena Lee Nolin, Slash, and Joey Buttafuoco. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Review For Aftershock

This Dimension pickup is a hectic, sometimes hilarious guilty pleasure that should delight genre geeks.
Dennis Harvey-Variety

Is no continent safe from the blood-drenched paws of filmmaker Eli Roth?
Clark Collis-Entertainment Weekly

Aftershock's best attribute is the disregard it shows for the safety of its central "heroes" who perish in brutal and generally unexpected ways.
Ethan Alter-Hollywood Reporter

"Aftershock" is ultimately predictable in its litany of who lives and who dies, and doesn't try to be too ironic or self-reflexive about it.
Peter Keough-Boston Globe

On the seismic scale of entertainment, "Aftershock" registers a 1.5.
Stephen Whitty-Newark Star-Ledger

A weird mash-up of disaster, horror and dystopia genre pictures, "Aftershock" fails to make the Earth move.
Kyle Smith-New York Post

The cosmopolitan cast never develops much chemistry, and the script settles into a predictable pattern of gory mayhem.
Todd Jorgenson-Cinemalogue.com

Was Aftershock just an elaborate ruse by writer-producer-star Eli Roth to justify an extended vacation to Chile?
Bilge Ebiri-Vulture

You just might find yourself rooting for the earthquake to win out in the end.
Brian Orndorf-Blu-ray.com

Ultimately, Aftershock ends up having the nihilistic outlook of Funny Games with the charming international optimism of Hostel.
Kevin Carr-7M Pictures

If you're in the midst of such a massive quake, with destruction everywhere, the last thing you should be doing is worrying about escaped murderer-rapist prisoners.
Robert Levin-amNewYork

If 'The Impossible' was a disaster film for the arthouse, 'Aftershock' is strictly grindhouse. It delivers the nasty goods.

Aftershock Is Like Piranha 3D Meets The Impossible
Drew Taylor-The Playlist

You can only listen to so much screaming and crying before it stops having the desired effect (ratcheting up the viewer's stress level) and simply becomes grating.
